Yesterday, I was watching "CONGO" the sci-fi thriller written by Michael Crichton. I have read the book too and watched it before too but I am compelled to write about that here as I have not blogged it before. The story was interesting and this makes me wonder about the other treasures lying in the lands of yore. If I were given enough money I would go in search of the hidden treasures across the world. In similar cord I like Clive Cussler's sea adventures. Since I mentioned about the Authors, let me discuss about the others I like and read once in a while.
John Grisham's "Broker" is the book I read before "Da Vinci Code" and was good but Grisham in good in the courtroom than a James Bond style fiction. Jeffrey Archer was my favorite since "Shall we tell the president","Not a penny more, not a penny less", "First Among equals","Kane and Abel","Broken Arrow" which are all good. The Robin Cook's Seizure introduced me to the "Shroud of Turin" which in fact exists to this day. Though I started with James Hadley Chase and Nick Carter, then graduating to Sidney Sheldon, now a days I prefer kind of philosophical, mythical fiction. In that light, Deepak Chopra's "Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire" stands apart and was thrilled when I first read that book. Ardent fan of JK but unfortunately I did not complete any of his books.
Going back to my childhood, boy how many neat books I have read and fantasized. I used to die to read the magic books similar to the Harry potter(which is more elegent and classy) but were written in Tamil. I have read a lot of books before I got the wind of Chandilyan and introduced the world of history and adventures therein. How I long to read them back again? And Kalki's "Sivakamiyin Sapatham" unforgettable!!!. It would be a pity if I do not mention about the PKP, Balakumaran, Thi. Janaki Raman(Mogha Mul, Amma Vandhal) and host of others.
